In not to distant memory, Caleb Odom was regarded as a top 75 prospect in the Class of 2024.
Odom was regarded by ESPN as the No. 64-ranked player in the class, as his size and skillset made him a very intriguing target for college programs. The UNC football program was one of the schools that initially offered Odom, but the Carrollton, Georgia native elected to commit to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
A year later, Odom has entered his name in the transfer portal, as North Carolina is once again in the mix to land him.
According to Pete Thamel, Odom will make a visit to North Carolina this upcoming week. Along with his stop in Chapel Hill, the former Alabama wide receiver/tight end has already visited Colorado while he plans on making stops at Ole Miss and Miami as well.
During his true freshman season, Odom had seven catches for 65 yards. His size (6-foot-5, 227-pounds) makes him an option at both wide receiver and tight end, something that will be intriguing to the teams that are in the mix for his services.
Regardless of where he would fit as a Tar Heel, North Carolina is looking to bolster the roster all around, and adding playmakers is certainly on their "to do" list.
Bill Belichick and the UNC football program have been very busy in the transfer portal as they look to haul in some veteran talent. A guy like Odom could be a tremendous find, as he's a player who was used sparingly at his previous stop but could be a force to be reckoned with if he earns a bigger role at his next destination.
