Former NFL head coach believes Bill Belichick could "knock it out of the park" at UNC
Everyone is talking about the news of Bill Belichick's hiring at North Carolina, even former NFL head coaches.
Jon Gruden is one of them, as he recently joined The Pacman Jones Show on BetOnline to discuss the news.
Here's what Gruden had to say on the hiring:
"Well, I'm surprised, probably just like you are very surprised. I thought he was gonna go get George Halas's record and become the all-time winningest coach in the NFL.
But obviously, he's got his sights set on something else. I think the one thing we can't deny is he's gonna hire a great staff. He's gonna hire good people. And he's gonna hire people in the front office that are good recruiters.
If you wanna shut down some of these spread offenses, who else would you rather have to do it than Bill Belichick? He actually goes in the meeting and calls the plays, coaches in the individual drills.
I think he's bringing his son along with them. He was an excellent coach, a young up and coming guy. So yeah, I'm not gonna second guess Belichick. I'd like my chances with him as my head coach in the ACC.
I don't think the ACC is loaded with high caliber teams. I think he could knock it out of the park."
Gruden is like many of sports fans- surprised. However, he does see an opportunity for Belichick to make a tremendous impact in Chapel Hill, believing he can "knock it out of the park."
