It's been a while since the UNC softball program could say this, but, the streak has come to an end.

North Carolina has earned a spot in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. This will mark the first time that the UNC softball program has made it to the tournament since 2019.
As part of the Knoxville Region, North Carolina is the No. 3 seed. They are joined by Tennessee, the host and No. 1 seed, Ohio State and Miami (OH) in the field of teams.
There are some correlations between the 2019 NCAA Tournament and this year's bid. In both instances, North Carolina was placed in the Knoxville Regional, while Tennessee and Ohio State were among the four teams in the regional in both instances.
While it feels like deja vu all over again, it's great to hear the UNC softball program has finally made it back to the NCAA Tournament.
This trip wasn't given to the Tar Heels. In just her second year at the helm, Megan Smith Lyon guided the UNC softball program back to this spot, as the resume they put together during the regular season is quite impressive.
40-15 Overall Record
27-5 Record at Home
15-9 in Conference Play
-First time since 2017 that the program won 40 games in a single season.
-22 of their victories came against Top 100 teams.
-Won six of their eight ACC series.
-Compiled three wins over conference championship teams.
While the regular season success was nice, this group still has a lot to accomplish before its all said and done.
