After spending one year at Florida State, the Fort Mill, South Carolina native will return closer to home to continue his college football career. He chose North Carolina over UNLV and will have four seasons of eligibility remaining.
Hickman-Collins didn't see the field as a true freshman, redshirting to maintain his eligibility. He entered the transfer portal at the end of April, and just a few weeks later has found a new home.
Coming out of high school, Hickman-Collins was regarded by 247Sports Composite as a three-star prospect. He earned offers from the likes of Charleston Southern, Charlotte and Georgia Tech before ultimately deciding to become a Seminole.
Hickman-Collins becomes the third linebacker addition for the UNC football program during the spring transfer portal window. The Tar Heels coaching staff has now brought in 16 new faces to help solidify the roster leading up to the 2025 season.
While most of the attention is currently focusing on the off-the-field doings of head coach Bill Belichick, no one is really paying attention to the work the Tar Heels are putting in on the transfer portal recruiting trail. Some of their additions will come to Chapel Hill with little to no college playing experience, but that hasn't stopped the UNC football program from looking to secure the best talent available.
Don't look now, but North Carolina continues to add to its solid transfer portal recruiting class. Based on what we've seen, it's probably a safe bet to say that the UNC football program is still in the market to add more talent over the next couple of weeks.
