The 2025-2026 regular season is officially in the books for Courtney Banghart and the Tar Heels.
North Carolina ended the regular season on a very high note, defeating rival Duke (who claimed the ACC regular season title). Now, the Tar Heels will have some time to rest up before taking the court in this year's ACC Tournament, which will be held in Duluth, Georgia.
Don't worry, Coach Banghart, I have no idea where Duluth is either!
Anyways, the schedule is set, and the Tar Heels have claimed the No. 4 seed in this year's event. This means that North Carolina has a double-bye, as they won't play until Friday night.

UNC draws a pretty favorable path
Of the four teams who defeated North Carolina in conference play this season, only one is on the Tar Heels' side of the bracket.
North Carolina wouldn't face that team (Louisville) until a potential semi-final contest.
The Tar Heels await the winner of two games to determine who they will play in the quarterfinal round on Friday night (7:30 PM EST tip-off):
On Wednesday, the No. 11-seeded Georgia Tech will take on No. 14-seeded Florida State, as the winner will face Virginia Tech on Thursday to determine who will have a rematch with UNC the following day.
The Tar Heels had success against all three teams this season, defeating each one during the regular season:
Florida State- 82-55 victory (January 18)
Georgia Tech- 54-46 victory (January 22)
Virginia Tech- 66-63 victory (February 19)
While anything can happen in postseason play, the Tar Heels should feel confident against whoever they match up against in the quarterfinal round.
How this event works
Essentially a week long event, teams play on consecutive days until a champion is crowned on Sunday.
For North Carolina, avoiding the first two rounds is a huge advantage they'll hold against their quarterfinal opponent. The Tar Heels will have fresh legs against a team that played at least one game in the tournament, as that team will have to either face a back-to-back or potentially a back-to-back-to-back scenario by the time they get to square off against UNC.
Revenge game against Louisville?
Yes, you need to win your first game before anything, but... you have to think this group would love another crack at Louisville.
North Carolina lost to the Cardinals at home in overtime, one in which the Tar Heels didn't score in the extra period.
This team would love another crack at them, and would relish the opportunity to see rival Duke once again in a potential finals matchup.
For now, the focus is on Friday night. Win that one and worry aboutt he rest later.
