Hubert Davis wasn't kidding!

“You will not recognize Elliot Cadeau this year. I mean it. You won’t recognize him. I’m so incredibly excited about his growth this year”

Those are the words that head coach Hubert Davis said with full confidence leading up to the start of the 2024-2025 season. Through three games, we've already started to see what Davis meant by his comments!

Cadeau has arguably been the best player overall for the UNC basketball program, as he's done a little bit of everything to help the team succeed. From playing strong defense to improved shooting, these are areas that are complimenting his already elite vision and passing ability, as he's showing that teams can no longer disrespect him by sagging off him as a potential shooter.

If you compare Cadeau's current stats to last season's, there's a MAJOR difference across the board:

2023-2024 Season:
7.3 points
2.2 rebounds
4.1 assists
41.7% field goal percentage
18.9% three-point percentage
64.8% free-throw percentage

2024-2025 Season:
15.7 points
3.0 rebounds
7.7 assists
48.1% field goal percentage
40% three-point percentage
73.9% free-throw percentage

The increase in production is INSANE early on during his sophomore season!

While he had his fair share of struggles as a freshman, Cadeau worked his tail off this offseason to be better this season. Sporting a new number and a fresh set of confidence, Cadeau has been excellent early on, and the hope is that he'll continue playing at this level moving forward.

If he does, the NBA will be calling his name following this season.
