"All-in on the draft. Door's closed."
That's what former UNC basketball standout had to say when asked by ESPN's Jeff Borzello if he has decided to remain in the NBA Draft or to return to college for another season.
UNC's Drake Powell, who tested as arguably the best athlete at the Combine, said he's staying in the NBA draft.

At this point, this was the expected outcome, especially given Powell's impressive measurements and insane vertical numbers he posted at this week's NBA Draft Combine.
Drake Powell is unbelievably explosive from a standstill.

Just posted a 37 ½" no-step vertical, by far the best mark so far at the NBA Draft Combine.

Powell's stint in Chapel Hill was short, lasting only one season. As a freshman, Powell averaged 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. He shot 48.3% from the field and 37.9% from three-point range, the third-highest percentage from beyond the arc.

All the signs were indicating that this would be Powell's decision. From not competing in the 5-on-5 scrimmages at the combine to testing favorably, it's probably likely that a team (or teams) confirmed their interest and intent to take him in this year's draft.
Powell's stock has risen over the last few days, as now you could make the case that he could hear his name called earlier than originally anticipated. Given his size, skillset and potential, an NBA team, especially one that has a pick later in the first round, would be more than willing to take a chance on him in hopes of developing him into a future star in the league.
Now that Powell is officially out the door, the UNC basketball program will continue to pursue options to fill the void at the wing. Expect North Carolina to continue being heavy players in the international market, as the right fit for the position could come from overseas.
Powell's decision is another pending item we can cross off the UNC basketball program's offseason questions list. Now, let's see how the Tar Heels move on from here.
