We're only a few days into NFL training camp, but MAN does Drake Maye look ready for a breakout sophomore season!
Following a rookie season where he started 12 games, the former UNC football star is set to be the New England Patriots' starting quarterback, as the hype for the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft continues to develop on a daily basis.
I mean, when the dude is making throws like the one below, how can't you get excited?!

Throwing on the run, Maye whipped an absolute dart down the field to connect with DeMario Douglas for a 50-yard touchdown. Even though the Patriots have just a few training camp practices under their belt, this play is easily the top highlight that has come out of Foxboro.
When the Patriots decided to make a head coaching chance for the second consecutive offseason, the job was one that sparked a ton of interest from notable head coaching options. With Drake Maye in the mix, an incoming coach would inherit a young quarterback who is trending to rapidly be on the rise, giving that new coach a key cornerstone to build around.
Mike Vrabel is that guy, and it's certain that he's very happy to have Maye as his quarterback as he takes over as the head coach of the team he had a ton of success with as a player during his NFL career.
There will be those people who say "well, it's just practice." In that regard, yes, you are correct. HOWEVER, making that type of throw in any situation is unreal, as there are probably only a handful of other quarterbacks who can do that as smoothly as Maye did.
Fans of the UNC football program have known that Drake Maye is special for quite some time. The NFL is seeing it first-hand through the early portion of his professional football career.
