At this point, we're just continuously writing about the former UNC Football quarterback. But can you blame us?

Drake Maye just continues to impress week in and week out while adding to his long list of accomplishments at only 23 years old. Not only did he join an exclusive list in New England Patriots lore, but he also accomplished something that had never been done in the history of the National Football League on Sunday.

After dominating the New York Jets in a 42 to 10 victory, a game in which Maye took his final snap at the 8:16 mark in the 3rd quarter, the Patriots improved to 13-3 and moved one game closer to securing the AFC East title.

To win the AFC East, one of two things needed to happen:

1) A Patriots win in week 18 versus the Miami Dolphins

OR

2) A Buffalo Bills loss against Philadelphia later on Sunday afternoon

Well, Maye and the Patriots didn't have to wait until Week 18 to secure the division title on their own.

In a defensive battle, the Eagles held on to beat the Bills 13-12 after Buffalo failed on a two point conversion attempt with five seconds remaining to win the game.

After a dominant run during the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick dynasty when the Patriots won the AFC East every season from 2009 to 2019, it has been a drought in Foxborough the last few years to say the least.

Now the attention will turn to Week 18 with the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC on the line. The scenario is pretty simple for Drake Maye:

Beat the Dolphins and have the Los Angeles Chargers beat Denver.

He's only 23 and in his second season in the NFL, but the former UNC Football quarterback is quickly on the rise at the professional level and every week making a case to be named the 2025 MVP.
