While we're officially under 100 days away from the start of the women's college basketball season, and we're all anxiously waiting to see who Courtney Banghart and the Tar Heels will be competing against this upcoming season.
The official schedule has not yet been revealed, but the program provided us with a huge update on Tuesday afternoon that will boost the excitement level for the upcoming season.

UNC is heading to Orlando, Florida for the WBCA Showcase
The UNC women's basketball program announced that they will be competing in the 2026 WBCA Showcase. This will be a two-game event that is held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World.

The Tar Heels will kick-off the event with their first-ever meeting against Texas Tech, a contest that will take place on November 19, 2026. Tip-off in Orlando is scheduled for 6:00 PM EST.

To wrap up the event, North Carolina will compete against Alabama on November 21 for a 5:00 PM EST tip-off, marking the first time the two programs have squared off on the basketball court since the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
Expectations continue to rise for the UNC women's basketball program leading up to Banghart's eighth season at the helm. Coming off back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances, the Tar Heels are not only looking to get back to that point, but will be striving to go much deeper in the 2027 NCAA Tournament, as a reloaded roster, featuring six newcomers, will look to continue building upon the program's recent success.

This is a fantastic non-conference test for the Tar Heels, who will not only get to travel to Disney World but will compete in two high-quality games while on their trip. For a program that strives to compete with the nation's best, having some challenging non-conference games not only can boost your NCAA Tournament resume but can also help prepare your team for those tough games you face in late February/early March.
