The UNC basketball program has already earned two transfer portal commitments thus far this offseason.
Is a third on the way?
North Carolina has been heavily linked to BYU transfer forward Kanon Catchings, as all signs point to a match between made between the two sides.
The first set of important information came from Inside Carolina, as they reported that Catchings has scheduled a visit to North Carolina. His visit to Chapel Hill will take place on Friday, the first day after the NCAA dead period comes to an end.

Catchings began the season as a starter for the Cougars before transitioning to a reserve role after the first 15 games of his collegiate career. In just under 18 minutes per contest, Catchings averaged 7.3 points and 2.2 rebounds before an injury abruptly ended his season.
If you want to see how good this kid could be, check out BYU's game footage against Baylor. Catchings scored 23 points while making every shot he took from the floor (8-for-8 overall, 4-of-4 from three-point range and 3-for-3 at the free throw line).
His last name should sound familiar, as he comes from a family of very successful basketball players. His mother, Tauja, was first-team all-Big Ten standout at Illinois. His aunt, Tamika, is a National Basketball Hall of Famer who was a 10-time WNBA All-Star, and a four-time gold medalist (oh, and don't forget her National Player of the Year award during her time at Tennessee!). Additionally, Harvey Catchings, his grandfather, played in the NBA for nearly a decade.
Catchings has a lot of potential, and the right landing spot just might help him reach that level of play that he's clearly capable of. Adding him to next year's roster would be a huge move for the UNC basketball program as they aim to add size, athleticism and shooting ability to their squad for the 2025-2026 campaign.
