Could five-star Sydney Savoury be the next elite talent to commit to UNC?

Courtney Banghart and the Tar Heels continue to be heavy players in the high school recruiting world.

North Carolina has gone after the top high school talents available, and has the rising program and recent success to help make their pitch even stronger. They struck gold during the last recruiting cycle, landing Kate Harpring, the top-ranked player in the Class of 2026, but aren't satisfied with landing one big fish.

Could the Tar Heels land a top-five ranked prospect for the second straight recruiting cycle? If it's up to Banghart and her staff, they have a few of these top-tier talents that they'd love to bring to Chapel Hill, including five-star guard Sydney Savoury.

In fact, the Tar Heels are making a strong push for Savoury, as the latest update in her recruitment is a very positive one for UNC.

Five-star Sydney Savoury schedules an official visit to UNC

As first reported by Dushawn London of 247Sports, Savoury's recruiting calendar for the month of August featured two official visits.

The first was a trip to USC, which already has occurred. The other is a stop in Chapel Hill, one that will take place at the end of the month on August 28.

The Tar Heels seem to be on the short list of programs who are still in the mix for Savoury. Along with USC and North Carolina, the Belleville, Michigan native is also considering Michigan, Notre Dame and UConn, showing how it's a top-tier program heavy list of potential suitors.

UNC firmly in the mix for a 2027 five-star whose recruitment starts to heat up

Currently, 247Sports Composite ranks Savoury as the No. 5 overall prospect in the Class of 2027. She ranks No. 2 overall at the shooting guard position and is the top prospect from the state of Michigan.

Needless to say: this is a blue-chip prospect who has the makings of being an immediate impact player once she arrives on campus at her future home.

If you're like us, you love to envision what different UNC rosters could look like if certain players commit to the Tar Heels. For Banghart's team, you could simply dream of a backcourt pairing of Harpring and Savoury, a young tandem that could be an absolute nightmare for years to come.

Of course, the competition is very steep, and North Carolina will need to pull out all the stops to secure a commitment from Savoury. However, if anyone can do it, it's Banghart, as her track record as a recruiter since she's arrived on campus backs that statement up. Let's also not forget: UNC isn't looking to add just one big fish, they are heavy players for a handful of them, as Banghart still loves to add top-tier high school talent while pairing them with quality transfer portal additions to create the perfect blend.

Savoury is giving UNC their chance to show her that North Carolina should become her future home, and it's safe to say that Chapel Hill certainly won't disappoint.
