It's been a rather rough season thus far for former UNC basketball standout Cole Anthony, a talented player who has seen his role with the Orlando Magic decrease significantly.
While Anthony hasn't been as involved as he hoped he'd be, Saturday night provided him with an opportunity to make his case for more minutes.
Quite frankly, Anthony did just that.
Anthony finished with 35 points while flirting with a triple-double, recording nine assists, eight rebounds, one steal and a block in the Magic's victory over the Miami Heat. What makes it even more impressive is the Magic's comeback effort- erasing a 22-point lead that the Heat held with just over 11:30 left to play.
The former Tar Heel capped off an incredible performance with an outstanding fourth quarter effort, scoring 13 of his 35 points over the final quarter of play. After the game, Anthony was emotional during his on-court interview, as you can tell that his performance (and the team's win) means a lot to him.
You often hear the phrase, "be ready when your number is called." In Anthony's case, he was more than ready for the opportunity, as he now hopes it translates to him regaining a more significant role in the Magic's regular rotation.
If he keeps playing like he did on Saturday, he'll force his way onto the court.
