Fans of the UNC basketball program surely know who Coby White is, an in-state product who came to North Carolina and took Chapel Hill by storm in his lone season on campus.
Now, as White continues to play at a high level in the NBA, the Tar Heels are actively pursuing another point guard that comes from the Wilson, North Carolina area.
Four-star Class of 2026 guard Kobe Edwards has jumped onto the UNC basketball program's radar as the Greenfield School standout took an unofficial visit to North Carolina for the Tar Heels' game against Pittsburgh.
As Edwards put it, the experience is one that he will never forget.

The 6-foot-1 guard, ranked as the No. 5-ranked prospect out of the state of North Carolina by 247Sports, witnessed the Tar Heels' nail-biting victory over the Panthers at the Dean Smith Center on Saturday afternoon.
As seen above, Edwards took a photo with head coach Hubert Davis and spent some time talking to other members of the UNC basketball program's coaching staff.
“The experience is one I will never forget. The staff made my family & I feel welcome. We had a good time tonight.”

Edwards is a guard who can do a bit of everything on the court, as he's a player that thrives when he's able to get downhill and drive toward the rim. Considered a good passer and playmaker, Edwards is a player who continues to enhance his skills, as it shouldn't be a surprise that big-time programs like North Carolina are starting to take notice.

It will be interesting to see how this recruitment plays out over the next couple of months, as the interest between the UNC basketball program and Kobe Edwards seems to be very mutual. As his recruitment starts to heat up, the Tar Heels might have to hold off some other in-state schools that may throw their hat in the ring to land one of the state's top talents in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
