Cameron Holmes is one of the top-25 ranked prospects that the Class of 2026 has to offer.
The rising senior has plenty of interest from top-tier level teams, which shouldn't be a surprise given that 247Sports Composite has him tabbed as a five-star product.
Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have been involved in recruiting Holmes, aiming to add his left-handed shooting ability to their 2026 recruiting class. While North Carolina wasn't identified as one of the "biggest players" in his recruitment thus far, Holmes spoke very highly of the Tar Heels (and Hubert Davis) in a recent interview with James Madden and Sam Lance of ZagsBlog:
“Hubert Davis is a great coach. He’s more of the one that’s down-to-earth. He’ll tell you what you need to hear and he’ll tell you it in a good way. But I love North Carolina. I’ve always been a fan of North Carolina since I was young, seeing their championship runs and all their March Madness runs. Yeah, it’s just a great school.”
Holmes only has one official visit current scheduled, as he'll head to Oregon on September 20. The 6-foot-5 guard from Goodyear, Arizona will likely visit other schools, as a trip to Chapel Hill may end up on his itinerary this fall.
The UNC basketball program needs to put together a strong recruiting class during the 2026 cycle. There are a handful of players within this class who make a ton of sense for what North Carolina is trying to build, as Holmes definitely qualifies as one of those guys.
Now, it will be up to Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program's staff to seal the deal on some of these top-tier talents. Based on how highly he spoke of North Carolina (especially how he's been a fam of them for quite some time), the possibility of playing for a school he's dreamed about for quite some time might just help guide him to Chapel Hill next summer.
