Class of 2025 star Caleb Wilson narrows his recruitment down to five schools

Caleb Wilson, the No. 8-ranked player in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports, has narrowed his recruitment down to five schools.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program are still very much in the mix.

The Tar Heels were listed as one of the five finalists. At this point in his recruitment, Wilson is focusing on the following programs:

Tennessee
Kentucky
Ohio State
North Carolina
UCF

While there was some speculation that a commitment could come in the very near future, Wilson told On3's Joe Tipton that he expects to announce his decision in either December or January.

Even though the UNC basketball program is among the finalists, it doesn't necessarily mean they are the frontrunner. At this point in his recruitment (based on what we know), Mark Pope and Kentucky seem to have a slight edge, especially given that Wilson was on-hand to see Kentucky defeat Duke back on November 12.

Who knew that a Duke loss would possibly be bad for UNC fans?!

However, while there may be some ground to catch up on, there's always plenty of time to do it. Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels have been pursuing Wilson heavily, and likely won't stop until the final buzzer sounds.

For now, don't count the UNC basketball program out, but don't get your hopes up.
