Chloe Humphrey continues rewriting the record books at North Carolina

Humphrey set the bar high last season but has had no problem surpassing it this season.

After a record-breaking freshman season, Chloe Humphrey set herself apart from the rest of the country.

We could sit here for days highlighting the accolades she received last year, a season in which she helped guide the UNC women's lacrosse program to a national title. She became UNC's first Tewaaraton Award winner and the first freshman to ever receive the honor, showing just how dominant she was throughout her first collegiate season.

Now in her sophomore season, Humphrey isn't satisfied with what she accomplished a year ago. She re-wrote the UNC women's lacrosse record books, but she isn't ready to etch those old stats into the history books.

Chloe Humphrey breaks her own school record!

After setting the UNC women's lacrosse single-season record for goals in a season (90), Humphrey broke her own record in the ACC Tournament championship game against Stanford. Her four goals put her at 92 goals for the year, as it's very possible the Tar Heels could have multiple games left to play once the NCAA Tournament get's underway.

Is 100 goals a possibility? Based on what we've seen from Humphrey, that number is certainly within striking distance!

What's insane to think about is how Humphrey's production has been even better by a big margin in less games.

In 22 games as a redshirt freshman, Humphrey tallied 118 points (90 goals, 28 assists).

Through 17 games this season, Humphrey already has 133 points (92 goals, 41 assists).

While her nickname "The Phenom" is very fitting, we might need to give her a middle name to go with it.

Chloe "History" Humphrey could work, given that's all this student-athlete has made during her two seasons competing for the UNC women's lacrosse team.

Of course, Humphrey is looking to build a legacy in Chapel Hill, one that is focused on team success. She isn't satisfied with what the Tar Heels have already accomplished, but has her sights set on another national championship title that she and her team could potentially earn in a few weeks.

To think, she has two seasons of college eligibility remaining after this one is over. At this pace, the record books are going to be an absolute mess as she continues to make her mark on them!

By the time her college career comes to a close, the UNC women's lacrosse history book might just become the "Book of Chloe Humphrey."
