On the night that he's dreamed about ever since he was a little kid, Caleb Wilson definitely didn't forget the people who helped him get to this point.
Wilson, of course, was accompanied by his family, who had been there every step of the way. The former Tar Heel also invited a special guest to join him, which shows just how much Wilson not only loves UNC, but also how much he admires his former head coach.
Caleb Wilson invites Hubert Davis to spend NBA Draft night with him
Hubert Davis, the now former head coach of the UNC basketball program, was in attendance at the Barclays Center to help celebrate Wilson's big night. Below is an image captured on the television broadcast of Davis posing for a photo with Wilson and his family.

Unfortunately, things didn't pan out the way that Wilson or Davis hoped to end the 2025-2026 season. Wilson was sidelined due to injury while Davis was coaching his final games at the helm, as both departed Chapel Hill on much different circumstances.
However, the moral of the story is simple: Wilson loves and appreciates his former head coach.

The bond that Wilson and Davis built is one that goes beyond the basketball court. This is a relationship that will carry on for quite some time, even though their paths are heading in separate directions. You could bet that if Wilson needs advice or some words of encouragement as he begins his NBA career, Davis will be a phone call away, being more than willing to share his wisdom with his former player.
No one likes how the Hubert Davis era ended in Chapel Hill. A tremendous human being who is beloved by his former players, everyone hoped that Davis would be at the helm for many years to come. Unfortunately, things didn't pan out that way, but without Davis, Wilson might not have been a Tar Heel at all.
Even if you were someone who asked for a head coaching change, Caleb Wilson being a Tar Heel was one of the biggest wins of the Hubert Davis era.
These types of moments are certainly heartwarming. It just goes to show the type of character Wilson has, making sure he remembers those who have helped him along the way.
Hubert Davis is one of those individuals, as he'll be in his corner not only throughout his professional basketball career, but for many years to come.
