Caleb Wilson has served as the headliner for the UNC basketball program's three-player incoming recruiting class.

While Wilson is viewed as a special talent, it shouldn't take away from the other incoming freshman who are joining the program. In fact, one is starting to generate a lot of buzz ahead of his first season as a Tar Heel, as more people are starting to realize that Derek Dixon has the makings of being a special player in Chapel Hill.

Jon Rothstein was on campus earlier this week to view the UNC basketball program in action during practice. One of his takeaways was the buzz surrounding the 6-foot-5 freshman, who Rothstein proclaims will be a factor in North Carolina's rotation.

Rothstein isn't the first person to recognize just how good Dixon could be. In fact, social media has been buzzing in regard to Dixon's arrival, as clips of his game are making the fan base excited to see what he can bring to the table this season.

There's a clear role on this team for Dixon, a guy who has an above-average basketball IQ and can serve as a primary ball-handler. While his role likely will be off the bench, it is a major one, especially considering how the program has lacked at this spot over the past few seasons behind the team's starting unit.

Now, Dixon seems like the perfect candidate to fill the void, a role he could easily thrive in. Not having to thrust him into the starting lineup right away allows him to adjust to the college landscape, especially for a player who is expected to have the ball in his hands quite a lot when he's on the floor.

The buzz is building around Derek Dixon, as people are starting to realize that the UNC basketball's 2025 recruiting class has multiple impact players included in it.
