Caleb Wilson has heard enough.

The freshman forward has heard all the chatter from people blaming head coach Hubert Davis for the UNC basketball program's recent lapses. After the Tar Heels' victory over Notre Dame on Wednesday night, Wilson was asked about his team's performance in the second half, a question that led to the perfect opportunity for him to address the Hubert Davis criticism.

Caleb Wilson strong defends his coach

Wilson doesn't see the team's recent struggles as a coaching problem. He views it more as a players issue

“I hate people who try to blame Hubert for our lapses," Wilson said. "Our coaches teach us the right things; it's all about our effort and about us playing as hard as we can. Coach can only do so much; we're the ones out there playing. As long as we play with pride and a lot of effort, we'll get the results we got today."

Wilson said all the right things

Of course, no one expected Caleb Wilson to come out and bash his coaching staff over the team's recent struggles.

However, based on the question that was posed, you can tell that Wilson genuinely is fed up with hearing the Hubert Davis slander.

If he had been asked about the situation, you can understand why he said what he did. Wilson went out of his way to make note of what's going on, as he's keeping receipts (as he always does). Although he's a freshman, Wilson doesn't present himself in that manner, and his play on the court and maturity off it speak volumes to the type of person he is.

A leader is emerging in Chapel Hill

Over the last few weeks, it's felt like this team didn't have a true leader on the floor (and in the locker room) steering the ship.

Comments like the one above from Caleb Wilson goes to show that the freshman is starting to grow into that role, and it couldn't come at a better time for the UNC basketball program.
