Caleb Wilson already hushed his biggest NBA doubt that he couldn't while at UNC

Wilson is silencing all of his haters.

The knock on Caleb Wilson while he was at UNC was that he couldn't shoot well from the outside. This was also a major red flag countless people pointed to ahead of him being taken with the No. 4 overall pick in the NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. The fact that some haters were ready to label him as a guaranteed bust was comical.

Leave it to Wilson to need only three Summer League games to change the narrative surrounding his game. In his first taste of summer pro ball, Wilson stunned us all by scoring 35 points (a record for a debut), while knocking down seven 3-pointers on the night. He has followed that up with even stronger play, including hitting step-back triples like he was born to do. Seriously, this kind of lights-out shooting from Wilson has been great to see, with him shutting people up in the process:

Hubert Davis not letting Caleb Wilson showcase his 3-point shooting will always be a UNC sin

For some North Carolina fans, you're obviously going to love seeing Wilson shoot the ball so well, but it's a bit frustrating to know this was part of his game, but Hubert Davis didn't let him fully showcase it while he was in Chapel Hill. Yes, North Carolina allowed him to look brilliant elsewhere, but still, there's no reason Wilson shouldn't have shot more from the outside while he was still suiting up in the ACC.

Despite that being a bit annoying for us, all we can do is look ahead to the future that's on the way, with Wilson no question having a bright one now that he has taken his skills to the next level. In three Summer League matchups, Wilson has scored 35 points, 19 points, and 19 points, respectively, to lead the way for Chicago.

Obviously, things are going to be a bit different when the vets take the floor, too, during the regular season. Wilson is going to be tested, and there will be a bit of a target on his back since he's been throwing some shade at some other players, including Cam Boozer, Darryn Peterson, and AJ Dybantsa.

However, Wilson continues to play the game with a ton of confidence, and he has a winner's mentality with Chicago. He has seen the lean years the Bulls have been through of late, which is something he wants to change as soon as possible. That's why his work ethic has been out of this world, including him revealing he's firing up around 2,000 shots per day to keep getting better.

That hard work in the gym is paying off already, with his strong shooting taking our breath away a bit. The hope is that it will continue this summer, and then translate over to the regular season as well a few months from now. Wilson has what it takes to be a true superstar in this league, and you better believe the UNC faithful will be along for the ride too.
