Cal delivers final insult to UNC with brutal Belichick video board jab

Cal made sure to get one more jab in on Bill Belichick before the clock struck triple zeroes on the night.

Bill Belichick at this point, with the millions of dollars that he has, can't even buy a win at UNC as the Tar Heels lose their third game in a row to drop to 2-4 on the season. After a bye week, there was hope that the Tar Heels would get their first ACC win under Belichick with a game against Cal, but instead, mistakes took over.

A fumble at the goal line sealed the Tar Heels' fate and gave Cal the go-ahead to run a special message on the video board. Once the game was well enough in hand and Cal knew they wouldn't lose it, they displayed a message on the video board that read:

"I am fully committed to Cal Athletics and the program we are building here, why do you ask," Oski mascot

"Oski has our full support, no really, we mean it, why else would we make this statement," Cal executives

This is a jab at Belichick and the UNC athletic director Bubba Cunningham's comments back on October 8, when they assured everyone that Belichick was sticking around, even though rumors were flying that he was either leaving or being fired.

Belichick released a statement saying:

"I'm fully committed to UNC football and the program we're building here"

While Cunningham also released a statement saying:

"Coach Belichick has the full support of the Department of Athletic and University"

To be fair, statements like that certainly make it look like it is not the case that Belichick is sticking around and Cunningham and the UNC Department of Athletics are really behind the former Patriots head coach.

It is simply just another saga in the Belichick circus, and this loss certainly doesn't help matters as the Tar Heels just couldn't get out of their own way with mistakes. A couple more losses like this could really change the mind of the athletic department on who is coaching UNC next year.
