Cade Tyson earns spot on the Karl Malone Award Preseason Watch List
Leading up to his first season with the UNC basketball program, Belmont transfer Cade Tyson has earned some preseason recognition.
Tyson has been named to the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Preseason Watch List. He is one of 20 student-athletes to be named to this award watch list and is just one of three ACC players to make the initial cut.

Last season at Belmont, Tyson was a lethal offensive weapon, averaging 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Based on the NCAA's criteria for three-point shooting percentage, Tyson ranks second nationally for the 2023-2024 season.
Tyson has the ability to be a major impact player for the UNC basketball program, as his size and shooting ability should be a tremendous fit at the "stretch four" position in Hubert Davis' system. If he can come in and shoot the basketball effectively, as he's done throughout his college career, the Tar Heels offensive attack is going to be even tougher to stop, especially with returning ACC Player of the Year RJ Davis back in the fold along with plenty of other scoring threats.
The UNC basketball program begins the 2024-2025 season with a non-conference clash against Elon on Monday, November 4, 2024 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
