According to Brian Lewis of the NY Post, Powell will be traveling with the Brooklyn Nets to Las Vegas but will not play during Summer League action due to injury.
It was revealed that Powell, the No. 22 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, is dealing with left knee tendinopathy. While the Nets consider it to be a minor injury, they aren't going to take a chance by risking putting him out on the court, as Powell is likely going to work out with the team during their trip.
The timing of this injury is disappointing, especially given that NBA Summer League serves as an opportunity for young prospects to earn some valuable experience. Powell won't have that opportunity this summer, but his health for the long term is much more important than competing in exhibition contests.
It's safe to say that the Nets would much rather have Powell rehab and get to full strength before the start of the season, as he will be an important piece for them as they essentially begin their rebuilding process.
