Bill Belichick and UNC need to make this North Jersey freshman a priority immediately

Before other programs start to get wind of just how good this 2030 prospect is, Bill Belichick and UNC should make it a priority to get involved in his recruitment.

Typically, we leave the recruiting to the professionals.

However, when there's a rising star that catches our eye, we will definitely help the coaching staffs out at North Carolina.

Coach Belichick, I won't ask for a role on your staff or even compensation for helping you out with this one; a simple "Point to the Passer" will be more than enough!

There's a prospect from the state of New Jersey who hasn't even played in an official high school game yet. However, this freshman is going to be on every big name school in the country's radar sooner rather than later, and North Carolina needs to jump into the mix early.

Who is he? Well, let's talk about him a bit.

UNC should already be picking up the phone for this 2030 prospect

William Mitchell is his name, and playmaking is his game.

Mitchell is set to begin his high school football career at Saint Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, New Jersey, the reigning Non-Public Group 4 state champions.

If you're unfamiliar with North Jersey football, we're here to tell you that it features some elite, nationally touted programs. Along with the Green Knights, Non-Public Group 4 also features Bergen Catholic and Don Bosco, both of which have been nationally renowned as well.

In this league, you must be elite to be playing at the varsity level, especially at one of the "big three" programs. Mitchell is set to play a big role for the Green Knights as they look to defend their state title, and the scary thing is, this guy can play anywhere on the football field.

Mitchell has competed for St. Joe's starting quarterback job throughout training camp, as you can get a glimpse of just what he's able to do as a passer via the clip below:

As good of a quarterback he can be, he might just profile better at a skill position, most notably wide receiver. In his team's final scrimmage against St. Joe's Prep of Philadelphia, Mitchell turned on the jets to score the lone touchdown of the game, a 75-yard score off a slant route.

In a previous scrimmage, Mitchell channeled his inner Randy Moss/Odell Beckham Jr. with a one-handed grab down the sideline over his defender (you can see that highlight reel catch here).

Augie Hoffmann, a former NFL offensive lineman and the head coach of the Green Knights, knows he has an absolute weapon at his disposal, and Gary Nova, one of the best quarterbacks to ever play at Rutgers, is the offensive coordinator in charge of getting Mitchell involved early and often. Based on their track records, it's safe to say that the duo won't have any trouble doing that, as they've already showed that throughout the preseason.

For UNC, they should already be keeping tabs on this kid. While 2030 seems so far away (and many things could change before then, including coaching changes in Chapel Hill), North Carolina would be very wise to start showing interest in William Mitchell early on, as his recruitment is set to skyrocket once he starts competing in regular season action.

Mitchell's first offer came shortly after his strong performance in St. Joe's final preseason tune-up, as Matt Campbell and the Penn State Nittany Lions are wasting no time showing their true interest. North Carolina should follow the trend and take my humble advice, getting in the mix before a swarm of programs start making their case to land a commitment from him down the road.

Coach Belichick and crew, if you need someone to help with recruiting efforts in the North Jersey area, just let me know. You won't regret showing interest in William Mitchell, the next big star that this elite football area has to offer.
