When Noah Burnette entered the transfer portal, the UNC football program found itself needing some depth within their special teams unit.

Bill Belichick and the Tar Heels have now found some, as they've earned a commitment from Michigan transfer kicker Adam Samaha.

Coming out of high school, Samaha was a highly-touted recruit. He ranked as the No. 7 overall kicker in the Class of 2023, electing to stay close to home to play for the Michigan Wolverines. His opportunities at Michigan were limited, given that he was buried on the depth chart behind Dominic Zvada, the Big Ten Kicker of the Year, as Samaha's decision to enter the transfer portal was likely due to Zvada's announcement that he would return to Michigan for the 2025 season.

While Burnette had some great moments as a Tar Heel, including a 2023 season in which he was nearly automatic, he did face some struggles during the 2024 campaign. Overall, Burnette connected on 49-of-62 field goal attempts over the last three seasons, and 137-of-139 extra points. He was 15-of-21 this past season, as he nearly wasn't the same kicker he was a season prior.

Now, the UNC football program hopes that Samaha can be a sneaky good transfer portal addition this offseason.

With Samaha's commitment, four transfer portal prospects have pledged to the UNC football program. It's safe to say that more are on the way.
