While most of us were enjoying our Fourth of July holiday, one of the UNC women's basketball program's top targets provided some fireworks in terms of her recruitment.
Autumn Fleary, one of the best prospects the Class of 2026 has to offer, has narrowed her recruitment to four finalists. Following her official visit to North Carolina on June 27, the five-star guard has included the UNC women's basketball program among the remaining contenders.

I’m truly grateful to all the colleges that took the time to recruit me! Thank you for believing in my potential! #AGTG pic.twitter.com/Us3TcRhCJp
North Carolina is joined by Duke, LSU and UCLA as the teams still in the mix for Fleary's commitment. The Washington, DC native ranks as 247Sports' No. 11 overall prospect, while ESPN HoopGurlz views her as the 14th best player in the class.
If you're curious as to which programs were eliminated from the mix, Fleary is no longer considering some very good programs. She has removed Notre Dame, Clemson, Arizona, TCU, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Florida, Miami and Maryland from the mix, while LSU, who wasn't on the original list back in December, found their way onto the list of four finalists.
While keeping an eye on this particular recruitment, that development is certainly something to keep in mind.
The good news is that Fleary's official visit to North Carolina on June 27 seems to have been a very successful one. Fleary shared on her Instagram account some photos from the visit, one of which includes essentially the entire current roster for the UNC women's basketball program.
When it comes to the UNC women's basketball program, it's a whole team recruiting effort!
Now, the push is officially on to bring this five-star talent to Chapel Hill. You already know that Courtney Banghart, her staff, and, of course, the current players are all doing whatever they can to make that happen.
