First it was Marcus Paige, now it appears that Sean May is following him out of Chapel Hill.

Cameron Williams of The Charlotte Post, the same reporter who was first on the Marcus Paige news, is now claiming that May is likely to also be added to Wes Miller's staff at Charlotte.

Building a staff of former Tar Heels

While that theory seems to now be a thing of the past in Chapel Hill, Miller has no problem continuing the trend at his new head coaching spot.

After five seasons at Cincinnati, Miller was relieved of his duties as the program's head coach, but didn't take long to find a new landing spot.

Shortly after signing his deal to become the new head coach at Charlotte, Miller got to work on creating his staff. He started by luring in Paige from UNC, and now is seemingly on the verge of landing Sean May as well.

A great opportunity for May

In the coaching world, it's all about gaining experience and moving up the ranks.

May has been involved at North Carolina since 2015, starting as the director of player development for two years while transitioning to the role of Director of Basketball Operations in 2017, a role he would serve in until April 2021.

When Hubert Davis was named the head coach of the program, May was promoted to the staff, serving as one of the three on-the-bench assistants on Davis' first staff. It was a role that May held until Davis was fired, as there was hope that May, along with Paige, would end up staying as the new regime came in.

Unfortunately that likely won't be the case, but it's a tremendous opportunity for May to gain some valuable experiences elsewhere.

Another bittersweet departure coming

May is beloved in Chapel Hill and his presence will be missed. However, Tar Heel fans will be rooting for the trio of alum who are all expected to be working together on Charlotte's staff, hoping that they all succeed and continue building their coaching resumes in the process.
