High school recruiting is never officially completed until a student-athlete actually steps foot on campus to begin their respective college athletics career.
In this day and age, student-athletes tend to change their mind more often than not, regardless of how long they've been committed to a respective program. Other factors (such as coaching changes or personal reasons) also play a huge role, and outside noise from the media indicating that things are not going well for a certain program.
Bill Belichick and the UNC football program have garnered more negative media than any other program in the country. Based off the Tar Heels' rough start to the 2025 season, the media has been trying to spin the narrative, indicating that Belichick might not be fully invested or that he may be looking for ways to leave the university.
Well, don't you worry- Belichick is fully committed, and so are the majority of his 2026 recruits who have already pledged to the program.
Offensive lineman Nick Fiumara became the latest Class of 2026 commit to confirm that his recruitment is fully shut down. He is not alone in this sentiment, as a handful of the team's commits have followed this same path previously.
I AM 100% COMMITTED TO UNC! I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE! GO HEELS 🐏🏠

Sure, some players have recently changed their minds about coming to North Carolina. That's fine. At this point, you should expect some movement before the early signing period hits.
However, don't let one or two players who change their mind (or the media for that matter) affect what's actually going on in Chapel Hill. Bill Belichick is fully committed, and the Tar Heels are making a very strong effort to put together an elite 2026 recruiting class.
In case you didn't already know, the recruiting class is elite as is, with more room to grow over time. Don't just think the UNC football program is done trying to find players like Fiumara who are fully committed to being a part of the turnaround for this program over the next few years.
If the media gives you reason to doubt, just go on social media and view the profiles of some of the team's football commits. Their commitment to the program will assure you that good things are coming to Chapel Hill.
