If the name sounds familiar, it's not a coincidence.
Dorn has ties to the University of North Carolina, as his father and brother played football for the Tar Heels. His father, Torin Sr., was a running back and defensive back for the program from 1986-89 before taking his talents to the NFL. Myles, his brother, was a safety who played at North Carolina from 2016-19. Like his father, Myles went onto play four seasons in the NFL.
Along with the family ties, Dorn also has competed against the UNC basketball program. Earlier in the season (on opening night), the 6-foot-7 sophomore drained five three-pointers in his visit to the Dean Smith Center, finishing with 17 points and five rebounds in a loss to the Tar Heels.
While he was trying to beat North Carolina this season, he may be trying to help them win games next season.
The Charlotte, North Carolina native averaged 15.2 points and 3.8 rebounds for the Phoenix this season, as he led the team with 74 three-pointers made. He shot the basketball efficiently, knocking down just over 35% of his attempts from beyond-the-arc.
It's no secret that the UNC basketball program is looking for talent at every position, but with the departure of RJ Davis and Elliot Cadeau, the need for veteran backcourt depth will be an important area to address this offseason. Dorn is a player who would come in and make an impact right away, as there seems to be plenty of mutual interest given he made his way to campus for a visit.
Will it result in a commitment? Time will tell.
What's important to note is, the UNC basketball program is identifying potential transfer portal players who fit what the program is trying to achieve next year and beyond, as Dorn appears to be a guy they have high on their wish list.
Now let's see if they can add him to next year's roster.
