Anonymous ACC coach blasts Hubert Davis on his way out of UNC

Well, one ACC head coach is devastated that Hubert Davis was fired by the University of North Carolina.

Jeff Goodman took to social media to share a quote he received from an anonymous ACC head coach. The quote is one that bashes Davis, as this particular coach was hopeful that North Carolina would retain him.

Here is the exact quote that Goodman shared on social media:

"I had really hoped he was the coach forever. No one in the ACC was scared of him. I'm worried that they hire someone really good now because if you get a big-time guy at UNC, they could be right there with Duke again."

Sheesh.

A few things to consider

For starters, it's so petty that someone would offer a quote about the situation without putting their name behind it.

Seems rather cowardly, don't ya think!

If you have something to say, say it with your chest! Put your name to your words, don't just hide behind a media member who will willingly stir the pot for you.

Additionally, the good news is that UNC is vying to bring in an elite coach to get back to typical North Carolina standards. That poor anonymous coach will be upset to hear that!

Who could it be?

There are three candidates that come to mind.

For starters, Jeff Capel. Need we say any more?

It could also be Brad Brownell of Clemson, a guy who has been around the ACC for a while and has plenty of knowledge (and the mouth to make a comment like this).

The third, and this might be a wild card, is Jai Lucas. After being an assistant coach at Duke, Lucas took over at Miami this season, and led the Hurricanes to a victory over the Davis-led Tar Heels.

Who knows, it may be someone who isn't even on our radar. The fact of the matter is, this is weak, given that they are hiding behind the media to say what they want to say.
