Alyssa Ustby signs her first professional contract with the Los Angeles Sparks

Alyssa Ustby is used to having to prove everyone wrong.

Not even regarded as a top-100 ranked player in her high school class, Ustby made her way to North Carolina and put together a historic five-year career, proving to everyone that her initial ranking didn't give her the credit she deserves.

Now, Ustby will look to defy the odds once again, this time at the professional ranks.

After not being selected in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Ustby has quickly found a landing spot, signing with the Los Angeles Sparks as an undrafted free agent.

Ustby put together a tremendous career in Carolina Blue, finishing her career as a Tar Heel as the program's all-time leading rebounder. The Rochester, Minnesota native made a major impact in the Tar Heels' success, helping guide them to two Sweet 16 appearances during her tenure on campus.

While her stats tell you just how good she was on the court, there's much more to Ustby than just her legacy as a player. She's served as an outstanding role model for not only her teammates but also the North Carolina community as a whole.

If we've learned anything over the past five years, it's a safe bet to say that Alyssa Ustby will once again prove everyone wrong. One of the hardest-working individuals to ever wear the Carolina uniform, Ustby will now aim to earn a spot on the Sparks roster, bringing her passion, high motor, and intensity to the West Coast as she begins her professional basketball career.
