Alyssa Ustby is a major reason why the UNC women's basketball program is currently where it is.
The fifth-year graduate student has led the Tar Heels to another 20+ win season and a current top-15 national ranking, as this year's squad is well-poised to make a deep NCAA Tournament run.
In recognition of her outstanding efforts, Ustby has been named one of 10 finalists for the annual Cheryl Miller Award, one that is awarded each season to the nation's top small forward.

When you think of players who impact the game in a variety of ways, not many can do the things that Ustby does on both ends of the floor. A high motor who simply defines the word "hustle," Ustby is much more than just a scoring threat. In fact, she is nearly averaging a double-double for the 2024-2025 season, as rebounding the basketball is arguably her biggest strength.
As a continuous student of the game, Ustby has improved her shooting ability tremendously, especially from beyond the arc. An area that was considered a "weakness," Ustby put the work in to become a capable three-point shooter, a skill that will certainly benefit her at the next level.
