Since Bill Belichick was hired as head coach of the UNC football program, athletes in the transfer portal from some of the biggest powerhouses in the FBS have immediately started showing interest.

This weekend will add another to this list, as Alabama offensive lineman Miles McVay has scheduled an official visit with the Tar Heels on December 21.

The former four-star from East Saint Louis, Illinois, entered the portal after just two years with the Crimson Tide. McVay saw limited playing time in an Alabama jersey, redshirting in 2023 and serving as a backup at the tackle spot in year two. In addition to North Carolina, McVay will travel to New York and take an official visit to Syracuse this Thursday.

Although there isn't a plethora of tape on Mcvay at the college level, his high school scouting report looks promising, drawing comparisons to NFL legend Orlando Brown:

"Owns a large frame with good wing-span. Technically advanced from a young age. Plays with a sturdy base and has the natural power and strength to where he is tough to bull-rush, but he is also skilled enough as a pass protector to handle speed rushers …he has the size and technical savvy to be a starter, likely at right tackle, for a high-major program."

McVay would be a great addition to the Tar Heels. Belichick and his staff will try to build a sturdy front line for their choice of quarterback next season, which could be true freshman Bryce Baker. The four-star recruit confirmed he would be signing to North Carolina this Wednesday.
