The airlines are getting in the way of North Carolina's recruiting efforts!

In the world of recruiting, we seem to hear something new everyday.

Joe Tipton of Rivals first reported earlier in the week that Dylan Mingo, a five-star guard from the Class of 2026, was set to visit North Carolina this weekend, a trip that was supposed to start with him attending the UNC basketball program's top-25 clash against Kansas.

Well... plans have changed, and not because Mingo had a change of heart about the trip.

Mingo had to cancel his trip due to his flight being cancelled. The government shutdown has drastically impacted flights across the country, as Mingo's flight was one of those that were affected.

Who would've thought that even the airlines don't want to see the UNC basketball program succeed on the recruiting trail!

What's next?

All hope isn't lost just yet- Mingo is trying to reschedule the trip. However, the hope is that this roadblock isn't a permanent one, as the Tar Heels hope to get Mingo on campus before his recruitment comes to a close.

While it's unfortunate news, we'll see how interested North Carolina is if they are able to convince him to find another time in his schedule to make the trip to Chapel Hill. The bummer was that he couldn't experience the atmosphere at the Dean Smith Center on Friday night, but let's wait and see if another opportunity for Mingo to officially visit Chapel Hill comes about.

Until then, let's hope that the government shutdown (and the issues of flights being cancelled at a rapid pace) get rectified so Mingo (and millions of other people in the world) can avoid the stress of having to figure out if they can make their scheduled trip or not.

Hopefully, the story down the road isn't, "what if Dylan Mingo's flight wasn't cancelled and he was able to visit North Carolina?"
