It's that time of year when NFL head coaching jobs are starting to open up, and Bill Belichick's name continues to be floated around the rumor mill.
Belichick's potential return to the NFL became more intriguing on Monday when the New York Giants elected to part ways with head coach Brian Daboll. East Rutherford, a spot where Belichick spent over a decade, helping the franchise secure two Super Bowl titles, might be one of very few spots Belichick would consider if he decided to head back to the pros.
However, the 73-year-old squashed all the rumors, releasing a statement that addresses his future as a head coach.

Bill Belichick sets the rumors straight
Belichick made it crystal clear: he is not (and will not) pursue any NFL head coaching vacancies. He goes on to talk about the Giants organization, citing how much he cares about the franchise, but wanted to set the record straight that he has no interest in any NFL opportunities, including this one.
“I have great respect and genuinely care for the New York Giants organization and both the Mara and Tisch families. The New York Giants played an important role in my life and in my coaching journey. It was a privilege for me to work for the Mara family and be a member of Coach Parcells’ staff for over a decade. However, despite circulating rumors, I have not and will not pursue any NFL head coaching vacancies.
Belichick reaffirms his devotion to North Carolina
He goes onto double-down on his commitment to North Carolina, as you can tell he's all-in on continuing the important that this group has made throughout his first season at the helm. With a loaded recruiting class coming in to coincide with a current team that has seen its youth develop in a very positive way, the Tar Heels are trending in the right direction, a ship that Belichick aims to be leading moving forward.
Since arriving in Chapel Hill, my commitment to the UNC Football program has not wavered. We have tremendous support from the university, our alumni, and the entire Carolina community. My focus remains solely on continuing to improve this team, develop our players, and build a program that makes Tar Heel fans proud.
“We're on to Wake Forest.”
Of course, Belichick had to throw the "We're on to Wake Forest" in there!
This is the second statement that had to be released this season regarding Belichick's future at North Carolina. We all remember a few weeks back when it appeared that Belichick was on the verge of being booted off campus, but a joint statement with Bubba Cunningham nixed those rumors.
Now, Belichick has to come out and publically state that he's not interested in any NFL job openings.
For the media that loves to continue stirring the pot regarding Belichick's future, this is the perfect time for you to let it go, realizing that Belichick has no plans of leaving Chapel Hill anytime soon.
