A new NBA destination emerges for former Tar Heel Cole Anthony following his buyout

As expected, Anthony's time in Memphis was short lived.

It's been quite a busy offseason for former UNC basketball guard Cole Anthony.

Just about a month ago, Anthony was involved in an early NBA offseason trade, one that shipped him to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of a package that sent Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic. Shortly after, it was revealed that Memphis had no intention of keeping Anthony, as a buyout was the likely option.

Well, the buyout has been agreed upon, as Anthony has already reportedly found a new home.

Shams Charania broke the news of the buyout agreement between Anthony and the Grizzlies. Charania also noted that the former Tar Heel plans to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks once he officially clears waivers.

It's no surprise that Anthony was able to find a new home elsewhere in a quick manner, given his age (just turned 25 in May), skillset and potential. Anthony has shown flashes of his ability throughout his five seasons with the Magic organization, but ultimately couldn't remain consistent enough to maintain a significant role in the team's guard-heavy rotation.

Now, Anthony will join forces with head coach Doc Rivers, who hopes to unlock the former Tar Heel's full potential.

If the Bucks maintain the core of their roster, including superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks will be poised to be strong contenders in the Eastern Conference. Who knows, maybe Anthony will be the steal of the offseason, as the change of scenery could bode well for a player like him.
