How about that for some good news for the UNC football program!

After much speculation regarding his recruitment, four-star cornerback Kenton Dopson III has officially flipped his commitment from Miami to North Carolina. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder recently reclassified, as he will jump from the Class of 2027 to the Class of 2026.

The UNC football program extended an offer his way in the early part of August, one that caught his eye right away. He wasted no time planning a visit to Chapel Hill, making a stop last month for the UNC football program's contest against Richmond.

After his visit, all signs pointed toward him flipping his commitment and reclassifying to head to the college ranks a year earlier than anticipated.

With all the negativity surrounding the UNC football program as of late, Dopson's flipped commitment is some much-needed good news. It's another friendly reminder that the current regime, led by Bill Belichick, has crushed it on the recruiting trail, as Dopson becomes the latest elite talent to join this absolutely loaded recruiting class.

Before everyone panics about the state of the UNC football program, just look at what the staff has been able to accomplish on the recruiting trail. Between the recruiting success and the support from the guys currently in the locker room, North Carolina is in the midst of building a roster that Belichick hopes to guide to national prominence in the near future.

Fans of the program should be pumped up for this addition, as this is a big-time get for North Carolina, especially considering they were able to lure him away from his home state.
