Joe Tipton of Rivals reported that five-star Class of 2026 guard Dylan Mingo will be making an official visit to North Carolina this upcoming weekend. Regarded as a top-5 prospect within his graduating class, Mingo is expected to be on-hand when the UNC basketball program hosts Kansas on Friday night in a top-25 showdown at the Dean Smith Center.
While the UNC basketball program hasn't been very active recently in regard to this recruiting class, we have heard some information surrounding some of their top available targets. Both Maximo Adams and Cameron Holmes revealed their list of finalists, including North Carolina among the remaining contenders. Even though we haven't heard much about Mingo, it seems that the UNC basketball program has been working behind the scenes in an effort to convince him to call Chapel Hill his future home.
Landing a player of Mingo's caliber would be a HUGE addition for the Tar Heels.
Mingo is a big guard with length, versatility, natural feel for the game, and an ability to get wherever he wants with the ball in his hands. He has a tight handle, can break his defender down with combo-moves, navigate a crowded lane instinctively, make reads out of ball-screens, utilize both hands, and create for himself and others.

Of course, the hope is that the atmosphere at the Dean Smith Center is electric on Friday night, which would prove to be a major jumpstart in Mingo's official visit window. What better way to convince a recruit to call your school home when they witness first-hand the electric nature that surrounds Chapel Hill, especially when it comes to nationally-televised game that shows the type of environment the student-athlete would be playing in on a regular basis.
Now, a win over the visiting Kansas Jayhawks would make the visit even more sweet, especially given that the historic venue will be rocking throughout the night.
The game itself might be enough to show Mingo that he wants to be a part of this starting next season.
