Before you get your hopes up, this potential center option doesn't seem to have any interest in UNC.

Reports have surfaced that North Carolina has been in contact with 7-foot-4 Italian center Luigi Suigo as they look to bring in another big man to their frontcourt rotation.

While his focus is currently on going through the 2026 NBA Draft process, Suigo is also considering options via the collegiate ranks. On social media, Suigo himself seemed to rule the Tar Heels out with a simple like of a comment.

Luigi Suigo silences rumors about his connection to UNC

On his Instagram page, an account responded to a recent post with a GIF of Ramses, the mascot of the University of North Carolina. Another account responded, "yeah, that's not happening," a comment Suigo liked.

You can see the post and Suigo's confirmed like in the video below.

While there has been some speculation that UNC has been connected to Suigo, it doesn't appear that the interest is mutual up to this point. Based on recent speculation, Villanova seems to have the upper-hand in his recruitment if he elects to withdraw from the NBA Draft, a theory that was sparked by his recent Instagram live video stream.

Michael Malone and the Tar Heels have been heavily active in search of front court depth, looking to add at least another piece to what they've already been able to acquire this offseason. Sayon Keita was a great start to the front court rebuilding process, but there's no doubt that North Carolina needs more depth in the post before kicking off the 2026-2027 season.

While Suigo should remain as a name to keep an eye on (let's face it: the recruiting world changes rapidly nowadays), he doesn't appear to be a legitimate option for the Tar Heels at this stage in the game. Of course, Malone and his staff are working diligently to find some capable solutions to help complete their roster, essentially making sure to leave no stone unturned throughout the process.
