The injury bug needs to stop picking on the University of North Carolina.

Not only has it impacted UNC's three biggest basketball stars- Caleb Wilson, Seth Trimble and Henri Veesaar, but it also trickled over to the women's side, where Reniya Kelly, the team's junior point guard, has always missed an extended period of time due to injury.

Now, the injury bug is really picking on us, impacting one of UNC's blue-chip prospects.

Maximo Adams suffers a concerning injury in state title game

Adams' final game at Sierra Canyon did not go as planned for the future Tar Heel.

Midway through the first quarter, Adams appeared to have his leg twisted and was forced to leave the game. When he returned to the sideline, he was seen on crutches, ruling him out from returning to action.

While Adams' presence on the court was missed, his teammates rallied around him to secure the state championship title. They defeated Salesian College Preparatory 78-70, capturing their first Open Title since 2019.

The injury definitely served as a cause of concern for Sierra Canyon, as head coach Andre Chevalier discussed the feeling when the injury occurred.

"When Maxi went down, we were looking for him to come out of the tunnel but everybody locked in," Chevalier said. "We started saying we are gonna win this for Maxi. It's a great thing when one guy falls and everybody rallies to not let him down. Everybody gave us something tonight."

Adams also commented on the situation, not providing much context to the extent of the injury.

"It's unfortunate that this had to happen but I had full faith in my guys."

UNC fans are holding their breath

This is very concerning for UNC fans.

Until more information is disclosed, Tar Heels fans will be holding their breaths, hoping that the injury isn't a severe one. Let's just hope for the best and keep our fingers crossed that Adams is okay.
