3 reasons to remain optimistic about the UNC basketball program's season

While there's a lot to worry about regarding this team, there is reason to be optimistic at this point in the season.

RJ Davis won't struggle forever

It's been a rough go for RJ Davis to start his fifth (and final) season with the UNC basketball program.

While we all look at the numbers of how he's producing, we don't often talk about the variables that play a role in a player's success.

For starters, the Tar Heels have zero post presence. Throughout Davis' career, he's always had a big man who he can dump the ball to. This is a major factor, because a guy like Armando Bacot could draw a double-team, allowing Davis to operate in space for open looks.

That simply hasn't been the case this year.

Additionally, coming off a year in which he was tabbed as a Consensus First-Team All-American, teams are going to make sure No. 4 doesn't beat them. They will match up a bigger player to make life difficult for the 6-foot guard, as the lack of space generated from the post hasn't helped him shake defenders much.

Based on what we know about RJ Davis, it's safe to say that he will figure out a way to get back on track. At this point, it's a matter of when that happens (hopefully sooner rather than later).
