2024 Week Nine 12-team College Football Playoff rankings prediction
I only have one word to describe this weekend's college football action...
BORING!
After a few weeks of absolute CHAOS, there wasn't much this past weekend. Sure, some teams got battle tested (like Ohio State and Texas), but only one team from last week's College Football Playoff Rankings went down in week eight action.
That team was LSU, who lost to No. 14 ranked Texas A&M (a win that moved the Aggies up a spot in this week's rankings.
While there was some thought to shift around the top four a bit, I decided to keep things the same at least for this week, as the bottom of the rankings had the most movement.
Here's where we stand in our 12-team College Football Playoff predictions:
Rank | Team | Why are they here | Previous Rank |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Oregon Ducks | Big Ten Champion | 2 |
2 | Iowa State Cyclones | Big 12 Champion | 3 |
3 | Miami Hurricanes | ACC Champion | 4 |
4 | Georgia Bulldogs | SEC Champion | 1 |
5 | Ohio State Buckeyes | At- Large | 5 |
6 | Penn State | At-Large | 6 |
7 | Texas Longhorns | At-Large | 1 |
8 | Tennessee Volunteers | At-Large | 9 |
9 | Notre Dame | At-Large | 10 |
10 | Boise State Broncos | MW Champion | 11 |
11 | Texas A&M | At-Large | 12 |
12 | Notre Dame Fighting Irish | At-Large | NR |
LSU drops out of the mix while Notre Dame, Boise State and Texas A&M all move up a spot. Notre Dame, who absolutely crushed previously unbeated Navy at MetLife Stadium, joined the rankings as the No. 12 team on the list.
Sure, Indiana has made a very strong case, but I want to wait and see what the Hoosiers have in store, especially with a trip to Ohio State looming in a few weeks.
Although the UNC football program is no where near making the rankings, you have to give credit to the Tar Heels for their dominant victory at Virginia on Saturday afternoon!
