WATCH: UNC Basketball hype video prior to UConn battle at MSG
The UNC basketball program released a hype video prior to their game against UConn on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden in NYC.
Plenty of history connects the UNC basketball program to the legendary New York City.
From past coaches and players who have called New York their first home to some historic games that happened within the location, the Big Apple is a special place that feels like a secondary home for the UNC basketball program.
After an overtime victory against Ohio State last season at Madison Square Garden, the Tar Heels return to The Mecca to take on No. 5-ranked UConn in the annual Jimmy V. Classic.
Hours before tip-off, the program released the following hype video, one that will have you ready for tip-off right at this current moment.
If you’re at work, don’t say we didn’t warn ya!
Hubert Davis returns to the place where his NBA career began, while student-athletes (such as RJ Davis and Cormac Ryan) return to their home state for this big-time matchup. Along with the trio mentioned, legendary point guard Ed Cota also made a special appearance in the video, as he started his high school basketball career in Brooklyn, New York.
Don’t forget about freshman guard Elliot Cadeau, whose West Orange, New Jersey residence is not far from the home of the New York Knicks.
Tuesday night should be a very exciting one for the college basketball world, as this installment of the Jimmy V. Classic features two top-25 battles. The Tar Heels’ clash with UConn is the highlight of the night, as North Carolina will look to take down the defending champs in the city that never sleeps!
