Brandan Wright simply racked in individual accolades in what ended up being his only season with the UNC basketball program.
Joining a very talented Tar Heels squad, Wright quickly made an impact, as he ended up being the team’s second-leading scorer behind Tyler Hansbrough. As a full-time starter from the word go, Wright helped lead the UNC basketball program to a 31-7 record, as the Tar Heels captured the ACC regular season and ACC Tournament titles in the process.
For his efforts, Wright was named the ACC Rookie of the Year and the Most Valuable Player Award for the ACC Tournament. He was also named to the All-ACC and ACC All-Freshman squads for his immediate impact on the UNC basketball program.
After dominating on the court in Chapel Hill as a freshman, Wright declared for the NBA Draft, as the Charlotte Bobcats selected him with the eighth overall pick in the 2007 draft.
