This UNC women’s basketball commit is off to a tremendous start to her junior season at James River High School in Virginia.

It’s still very early in the recruiting cycle for the Class of 2025, but Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program have already secured a commitment from one of the class’ rising stars.

Five-star Lanie Grant, who is currently ranked by HoopGurlz as the No. 22 overall player in her class, had a career night as she led the James River Rapids girls basketball team to a hard-fought victory over Manchester.

Grant absolutely dominated offensively, scoring a career-high 43 points. She accounted for over half of her team’s total offense, as Manchester had no answer to stop the future Tar Heel.

This is not only a big early-season victory for the Rapids but also a statement performance from Grant. If she continues to produce at a high level, it won’t be long before we see her rise up the recruiting rankings into the top 20 or even higher in her graduating class.

Banghart and the Tar Heels have done a great job of recruiting some of the nation’s top talents, as Grant is a very good start to what could become another star-studded recruiting class once it’s all said and done.
