One of the UNC football program’s main tight ends has decided to finish his collegiate career with another program, as he will enter the transfer portal.

Leading up to the regular season finale against NC State, head coach Mack Brown discussed how some current UNC football players were already talking to other schools about transferring.

Not even 24 hours after the final whistle in Raleigh, the first domino has fallen.

On social media, tight end Kamari Morales announced that he will be entering the transfer portal. Morales will have one season of eligibility remaining at whatever school he chooses to transfer to.

Heading into the 2023 season, Morales was expected to be a big part of the UNC football program’s passing game. Coming off a 2022 season in which he hauled in 29 passes for 358 yards and four touchdowns, many believed that Morales would put up similar (or even better numbers).

However, that wasn’t the case, as he was limited to just 11 catches for 158 yards over 12 games played, mostly being utilized as a blocking tight end.

A lot of Morales lack of targets had to do with the emergence of both Bryson Nesbit and John Copenhaver, as both tight ends seemed to jump the veteran on the depth chart. Nonetheless, Morales put together a productive career in Chapel Hill, as the hope is that he can find a new home where he will be utilized more within that team’s respective offense.

This is just the first domino to fall, as other UNC football players are also expected to leave the program as well.

Buckle up, it’s going to be a busy couple of weeks ahead…
