Fiona Crawley

It’s been quite the year for UNC women’s tennis star Fiona Crawley.

At the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, Crawley drew major headlines, as she was able to compete in the US Open but was unable to profit from her participation in the event.

We talked about the situation here, as Crawley had to turn down $81,000 to maintain her collegiate eligibility.

During her junior season, Crawley went on to be named the 2023 ITA National Player of the Year, ACC Player of the Year as well as the Honda Award winner for women’s tennis, all while helping lead the UNC women’s tennis team to a national title.

Not collecting her earnings at the US Open had to be a difficult decision, but Crawley was intent on competing for the Tar Heels once again.

Crawley gets an invite for this year’s Thanksgiving dinner not only to talk about her time as a UNC women’s tennis player but also to hear her take on her experiences at the US Open.

Hey, maybe she’ll even give me some pointers on how to become a better tennis player (side note: I’m TERRIBLE at tennis, my game needs a LOT of work!).
