The UNC football program had two players recognized by the Atlantic Coast Conference for their outstanding performances this past weekend.

On Monday, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced its annual weekly honors, recognizing the student-athletes who performed well during Week 11 action.

Among this week’s honorees were two very deserving UNC football standouts.

Omarion Hampton was named the Co-ACC Running Back of the Week, as this is the third time this season that he has earned weekly honors. Currently the leading rusher in the ACC, Hampton had another very strong performance on Saturday night, recording 169 rushing yards and a score on 31 carries while also hauling in a career-high eight receptions for 47 yards.

Hampton was a workhorse for North Carolina against rival Duke, as his 31 rushing attempts were the most by a Tar Heel since Ryan Houston had 37 carries against the same Blue Devils in 2009.

Noah Burnette was named the ACC Specialist of the Week, as he put together an outstanding performance on his senior night.

The Tar Heels kicker Burnette tied the UNC football record with six made field goals in a single game. He sent the game into overtime with a game-tying field goal to end regulation, as he now has just one miss in 19 field goal attempts this season.

For a guy who appeared to have lost the placekicker job to Ryan Coe, Burnette has been a major factor for the UNC football program since Coe went down due to injury.

Both players were a huge part of the Tar Heels’ double-overtime victory over Duke and should remain key factors as the UNC football program aims to end the regular season on a strong note.
