The UNC Basketball program continues to see records extended by big man Armando Bacot. On Sunday versus Lehigh, he recorded his 70th double-double.

Armando Bacot has been a dominant force for the UNC Basketball program throughout his career. During his senior season last year, he broke a double-double record that had stood for almost 60 years!

As he returns for his fifth season, thanks to an additional season of eligibility (COVID year), he is still racking up numbers and padding the stat sheet. On Sunday, Bacot recorded his 70th career double-double with 1:08 remaining in the first half.

Yes, in the first half.

Bacot proceeded to continue to dominate the Mountain Hawks in the second half, leading the Tar Heels to a 90-68 victory and recording his seventh career 20 rebound game and his third career 20/20 performance with 22 points as well.

While several fans will point out that he is in his fifth season and some of these records should have an asterisk beside them, you can’t ignore the production that Bacot has provided for this UNC Basketball team early in the 2023-2024 season.

Through the first two games of the UNC Basketball season, Bacot is averaging 23.5 points per game and 16.5 rebounds per game. The Tar Heels hope to see that dominance continue all season long.

It will be interesting to see how many double-doubles Bacot can secure before his time in Chapel Hill comes to a close, as you’d have to think that he could challenge the 87 double-doubles that Tim Duncan posted during his college career.
